Former State Senator Diana Bajoie Endorses JP Morrell

Former State Senator Diana Bajoie is endorsing JP Morrell for New Orleans City Council At-Large, Division 2 in the Nov. 13 election. Early voting starts Saturday and is available through Nov. 6, excluding Sunday.

In announcing her support for Morrell, Bajoie said:

"I'm excited to endorse JP Morrell for City Council At-Large!  As the first black woman ever elected to the Louisiana State Senate, I know how difficult it is to get things done in Baton Rouge when the deck is stacked against New Orleans.  I've been impressed with his accomplishments because he did things in the Louisiana Legislature that we once thought were impossible.  JP ended split juries. He defeated the NRA to expand protections to survivors of domestic violence. He fought for, and won, more tourism money for our city to tackle infrastructure problems.  JP is prepared to tackle the problems that face our city with the same skill and tenacity that made him a game-changer in the Legislature.  JP represents the future of leadership for our community, and he will make a great City Councilmember At-Large."

JP Morrell has been a relentless advocate for policies that place people first. He started serving our community as a public defender right out of law school and later was elected to the State Legislature in 2006 – where he authored more bills than anyone in the history of the Louisiana Legislature.

Morrell said, "I'm humbled and honored to have earned Diana Bajoie's endorsement. She is a true trailblazer. As Councilmember At-Large, I will carry on our work to make the changes needed to improve life for all of us."
