State Representative Ted James & COUP Endorse JP

Rep. Ted James, Chair of Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, is endorsing  JP Morrell for New Orleans City Council At-Large, Division 2 in the Nov. 13 election. Early voting is Oct. 30 through Nov. 6, excluding Sunday.

Representative James said, "I worked with JP for years in the legislature, and he's the hardest working senator I ever saw.  While most legislators are filing 4-5 bills per year, JP was filing 20-30 instruments. He always sees problems as something to be solved, not a nuisance to be ignored.  JP is the type of leader who runs towards the challenges that faced our state, rather than away from them.  Without his leadership, we wouldn't have expanded the Earned Income Tax Credit, gotten New Orleans it's fair share of tourism dollars, and ended a 135+ years of Jim Crow law in Louisiana when he repealed unconstitutional Split Juries.  JP is a once in a generation leader, and I'm excited to see what he can do for New Orleans!"

COUP has also announced its support for JP, saying:

"We are proud to announce that we have endorsed JP Morrell for New Orleans City Council At Large, Division 2.  He earned our solo endorsement in the race for his constant leadership at the state level and we are excited for what he will be able to do for our community at the New Orleans City Council.  JP is ready to solve the problems that have plagued our city for generations and has the sense of urgency to solve them now, rather than continue to kick the can down the road.  We need JP on the City Council."
